FDA Reviews 2 New Drugs to Reduce Prostate Cancer

I was searching around the Yahoo website and came to this article talking about how two companies might have new drugs which can help reduce prostate cancer. The two drugs from GlaxoSmithKline and Merck might reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men, though scientists questioned the drugs overall benefit. The reviewers for the Food and Drug Administration also complained that the companies only studied a small number of African American men, who are at high risk for prostate cancer. The company GlaxoSmithKline has asked the FDA to approve its drug Avodart for a new use against prostate cancer, after research showed a 23% reduction in low grade prostate tumors among men taking the drug. The company of Merck achieved similar ressults with its drug Proscar and is asking FDA to approve labeling about its drug's benefits in reducing prostate cancer risks. Both drugs are already approved to treat enlarged prostate. I think that this is great how there might be 2 new drugs which can help reduce prostate cancer in men.
